Hey all,
After a few test runs, I think I'm ready to launch a new feature to the forum. Toward the bottom of the main page, there is a new box titled "Today in Horror History". Every day, there should be at least one little horror fact pertinent to that day posted in this area. Anything from the birth/death date of a horror icon, release date of a movie, and so on. Each entry will be a link to more info on said event. Once I start populating the events, past and future postings will be viewable in the calendar at the top of the forum. These events may only be viewable to registered members of the site (as I know the calendar is).
Hope you all enjoy this feature. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to pass them along.

Back to the drawing board, I guess. Not sure why these aren't working, as the test worked up to New Year's Eve. I'll have to keep on testing and put it on hold.

Just to update where things stand here. The problem I am having is with the single digit dates during the month. There is some goofy flaw in the code that fails to post these data. Starting the first, I am going to run some tests with some modifications to the code. Hopefully, this will work. If not, I'll have to come up with another plan or scrap the idea.

Update - I've replaced the Calendar link above (below the Horroretc banner) with a Horror History link. This will allow you to view all entries made into this list. All double-digit days will also be viewable toward the bottom of the front page, below the Birthdays message.
If anyone wishes to add to the horror history (either a new item or an improved write-up to one I've posted), feel free to send it to me in a PM and I'll post it verbatim. Also, please call me out on any mistakes you find. I've primarily used Wikipedia and IMDB, and have occasionally stumbled across a few discrepancies between them.
I'll be posting future dates in the days to come. Hope you all enjoy.

It's great! Today the witch trials in Salem started. Got me wondering if they actually caught any practicing witches or just eliminated the midwives and cat ladies.

Food of the Gods. Thank you for reminding me of this film. I first read about it in Stephen Kings Dance Macabre and I've been interested in it since. Going to Netflix now.

Your very welcome. It is one of my favorites from my childhood (And I still dig it today, as well).
Enjoy

I wish it was possible to comment on the This Day in Horror posts, but there is no reply option.
I enjoy them very much!

The way it works is that they are posted in the calendar. They don't actually "count" as posts, so I'm sure that is why you don't see a reply option. You can always feel free to post a comment here or start a thread for that particular item of interest.
What disappoints me is that items from the 1st to 9th are not displayed below. You guys can still access them by clicking the calendar icon up top, but that isn't as obvious to everyone. I really hope that this is something the next version of Proboards corrects (whenever that is released).

Thanks for pointing out that calendar icon. I feel like a dope for never noticing that before. Cool! I do have a soft spot for today's entry! It all started with the TV ads that ran when I was a little kid. They must've aired them during cartoons shows or I wouldn't have seen them. What were they thinking back then?! Scared the crap out of me!
