Anyone watching this on A&E? From Carlton Cuse ("Lost") and Kerry Ehrin ("Friday Night Lights"), the quasi-prequel series was recently renewed for a second season.

I'm really enyoying Bates Motel - but I'm not sure why. They seem to have taken the barest essentials from the basic idea of a disturbed kid and his overbearing mother living at a run-down motel and run off at all kinds of tangents with it. But, like I said, so far it's working for me.

Dang...I knew it was coming, but somehow forgot to tune in.
Hopefully it will show up on Netflix...I hate joining a new series in progress.

This is a very average show. Definitely embraces the "re-imagining" view for sure. With all the sub-plots it has, there seems to be very little concentrated on the mother/son dynamic. Kind of a poor man's Twin Peaks in this small town. I'm a big fan of the original movies and actually don't find myself really offended by things they're doing here. Norma and Norman almost seem out of time here in the modern world, driving around in the old car and dressing the way they do. Mildly entertaining, I guess, and was a bit surprised to see it get renewed so quickly.

Plot holes, be damned! I’ll keep watching – if only for Freddie Highmore’s eerie portrayal of Norman Bates.

Been watching the show since it aired and boy does the teen that plays Norman does a hell of a job. And how damn close he looks to a younger Anthony Perkins who was the Original Norman Bates. I can't wait to see what happens next since Norman has made his first kill. (Also I read the book and boy did Hitchcock do a hell of a good job bringing it to the big screen! I also know that there are THREE split personalities that Norman has which I can figure out which one comes out during the show.)
