Okay, I know it's been quite at the site for a few weeks, but I'm going to put this out and see if anyone is interested. I MIGHT (and I have to look into this further) have found a way to host another movie night. But it will cost you.
I found that Skype will allow you to host a movie party with friends, but the catch is, everyone involved must have a Skype account. So it will not be free, as it was with Synchtube.
On the plus side, as I will be running it from my computer, we will have access to my 200+ horror DVDs, including classics like Bride of Frankenstein to modern favorites like Evil Dead 2! And lots of cheese in between!!!! ;D!
I have to do a bit more research on this, bur I want to gauge the interest with members of the board before I proceed. Anyone interested? I'll give everyone a couple of months to reply, as I know we are approaching summer for most of us.
Just post yea or nay on this thread.

What day are you thinking and what does a Skype account run?

I figure same day, same time (or there abouts). Have no about Skype costs yet, I just wanted to gauge interests before looking into this option further.
But, now that I think about it, I'll do some looking into the costs over the weekend and get back to you on it. The expense might sway everyone's decision.

Itll ultimately depend on the cost for me.. Because the time was awkward for me i missed more than i got too. no point paying much if im likely to miss them anyway.
but dont count me out until ya get more details

Sorry all, but I dropped the ball on this one.
I will look into the costs within the next week and get back to everyone. However, I believe it will be pay as you use it, ilnino, so it won't cost you anything to miss a weekend or two.
Or six, but who's counting? ;D

Ouch!
You can buy credit, but that's a bit spendy. You'd have to buy a worldwide premium package (for me, that would be $13.99 a month; I'm sure rates will vary) to make it cost effective, as a one minute charge is around $0.12 US. That means a 90 minute movie would cost you $10.80 US to watch.
And, you'd have to watch it on a device where you can talk. It appears this would not be like Synchtube, where we type in our snarky comments, but will be talking. That would be a bit of a hinderance for me at the moment, as my Mac Mini does not have a mike.
Speaking of Synchtube, it appears the site has given up trying to get going through another source. I keep checking YouTube to see if they're offering anything, but no luck so far.
This might be on hold for a LONG time.

OK, I have a really dumb idea. How about we use a chat room service and just all watch a movie on Youtube or if you own the movie just play it. We could "synchronize" the start and if people join late they could fast forward to where we are.
It's clumsy but it wouldn't cost a dime.
Told you it was dumb.

I can do that. I have a Yahoo account, but haven't used it for a while. Or maybe it was iChat. I don't remember.
I'll look into it and let you know soon. Anyone else interested?

Well, I do have a Yahoo account, but I don't remember a thing about it. Still waiting for their email so I can get my name/password.
