www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/abraham/detail??blogid=95&entry_id=59770Chris Evans, who's familiar with Marvel Comics characters having worn the costume of "Johnny Storm The Human Torch" in The Fantastic Four Series, will work with Marvel yet again as "Captain America" in a three-movie deal. Chris Evans signed the agreement today, and reportedly can't wait to get started. Neither can Captain America fans. The movie's target release date is July 22nd, 2011. The Captain America movie has been in development hell for decades. A number of treatments and scripts have flown around Hollywood. But it wasn't until the development of the financing system for Marvel Entertainment movies and the success of movies like Spider Man, that Captain America became a reality. According to Variety, This Captain America deal calls for three movies starting with The First Avenger: Captain America. Then Chris Evans will join Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Ed Norton (The Incredible Hulk), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) in the much-anticipated Marvel Entertainment movie The Avengers, slated for May 4th 2012. Joe Johnston, who directed The Wolfman, will manage Captain America, based on a script to be written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Excellent news. This has been way too long in coming. Can't wait to see how Hugo Weaving's Red Skull will turn out.
