Hey, TT&SD if you haven't seen Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer you should check it out. Creepiest film I've ever seen.

Been waiting for a while to work it into the podcast - I know Doug has also seen it. It's an evil movie.

While not exactly enjoyable I'd recommend having a look at the output of Jörg Buttgereit, especially the Nekromantik movies. They're vile and perverse but with an absurdist twisted kind of humour to them.

Three titles to recommend to all three of you crazy Canuck-ish kids...
"Irreversible" (2002)
"Enter the Void" (2009)
"Dogtooth" (2009)
Some if not all of the above listed movies might be ones that you may never want to revisit again, but I think they all deserve to be seen (and discussed!) at least once.

Most of my recommends belong in a Guilty Pleasures 2. Zombie Lake, Transylvania Twist, Cthulhu Mansion... they're all trash, but they're lovable trash! I've already recommended Legend of Hell House in one of the Book Club episodes (#2, I think), but the recommend stands. Have to second Spiral - Spiral and Session 9 make a wonderfully warped double bill. Toss in, oh, I don't know, Memento or The Machinist, and you'd better not have been drinking. Maybe you'd better swap in Total Recall for that third film, give yourself an upbeat ending. I'm sure you've seen it before, but I've got a soft spot for Predator 2 myself. Try watching it again, but this time focus on what we learn about the Predator and his sense of honor and behavior as a hunter - it's a much more interesting film if you do. Hmm... actual *good* films to watch, that I don't think they've already seen... that's the problem, really. I don't have the breadth of experience. So I'll just hold off for my compatriots in the podcast to listen in. Oh! Madman! Almost forgot that one. And it's been recently re-released!

I recommend the Japanese film The Neighbor Number 13.
Not horror per se, but it certainly is creepy. It's about a man with multiple personalities (an entirely original idea).

The Sadist (1963). This is public domain, so you can find it easily online or just buy it from one of those cheapie box sets.
This movie is way ahead of it's times, because many of the more modern slasher conventions are included in here. While I'm normally disdainful of the slasher film, because of the year it was made in, it actually is pretty cool.
Like "Carnival of Souls", "The Sadist" is one of those lost gems and I hope that it gains a following on the internet.

It's been a long while since anyone's recommended anything to our fine co-hosts, so here are three recommendations to bring it back from the dead...
"Dorm" (2006) An underseen ghost story hailing from Thailand.
"Kill List" (2011) What begins as a tense crime thriller involving a hitman descends into all-out darkness and terror. What a British magazine referred to as a "new horror classic."
"Contagion" (2011) Steven Soderbergh's self-described attempt at a kind of horror film with deft realism and scientific accuracy.
"We Need to Talk About Kevin" (2011) While perhaps not fitting genre criteria in the most conventional or expected of terms, quite a few have called this the best horror film of last year (and was on a number of end-of-year "Best Of" lists, genre-specific or free range).

Not obviously a movie, but the BBC series "Black Mirror" which aired late last year (and I call it a series instead of a miniseries because the front of the forthcoming region 2 DVD of it refers to it as "The Complete First Series"). A horror-ish sci-fi collection of three episodes united by their focus on nightmarish visions of the nearer future informed by our current popular culture.
Created and co-written by Charlie Brooker ("Dead Set"), it is recommended to check out and although not sure when (or if) it will get released here stateside, it's region 2 DVD bows on February 27th.

There's a good BBC series from 1979 "The Nightmare Man" And another vote for "Legend of Hell House"
