I am not a fan of first person perspective games, normally I would have passed on this but a zombie outbreak at a beach resort? How could I say resist? I then watched the slow motion, super sad trailer and I was hooked (bravo to whoever put that together). So, I've been playing for a couple of hours and I gotta say it's pretty good. I'm still early in the game so the main plot has yet to unfold but so far the characters are interesting, if a bit generic and there's plenty of gore. The gameplay is a little wonky especially the melee but that could just be me getting use to it. I like the daylight aspect, everything is so bright, somehow seeing all the zombies is scarier to me, makes me nervous, what if my weapon breaks? I'm hoping it gets a bit harder as I go, the zombies are pretty easy to take down and I've yet to try the co-op mode but it's already a keeper in my book

The promo was what convinced me to buy a new game system early next year. Glad to hear the game is living up to the hype.

I bought this based on the trailer as well. While it's fun, and gets better as the game goes on, I see the game it wants to be, and it falls short. It's a mashup of Grand Theft Auto meets Fallout 3, but it lacks the variety of the former's missions and the game altering decision making of the latter. It feels like an early attempt at an open world game when other studios are making real innovations in this territory. That said-once you get to Act II and start exploring the city, the challenge of the game picks up. you're in much tighter quarters, there's an unbearable amount of fast moving zombies and both the music and ambient soundtrack create a real white knuckle experience. My adivce-but it used for $30-$40 in a month or two If anyone's interested here's our official review: www.allthingshorroronline.net/2011/09/dead-island-grand-theft-zombie.html

I just started playing this game again this week now that XBOX finally got a patch for it. Damn Techland.
It was pretty cool that Best Buy gave away a free copy of Zombieland (DVD or Blu-Ray)with the purchase of the game.
