I heard today that the rumours are this is going ahead and at this moment in time it is being planned as a found footage style movie. Jason in shakey cam could work I guess.. and I have to admitt my curiousity would get the better of me no matter how bad it turned out. Ive seen no definite proof yet that this is a real thing but am wondering what ya'll think of the possibility?

If they can do SpaceJason they can do Shaky Jason. I have defended the remake, but never felt it needed. This is a series that could well have just started back up again and selectively ignored the shittier aspects of what came before (like many Godzilla movies). If they just do this as its own thing, as a unique chapter in the Jason saga, and don't get hung up on which continuity it belongs to, it could work.

Ugh...shaky-cam Jason *vomit*
Can't they just hire someone with talent to write a sequel? Turning to gimmicks is just plain lazy.

Shaky-cam is a technique - it cannot cover up a poor script, and given the failure of Apollo 18, it is not a gimmick (like 3D kids films) that audiences will flock to regardless of quality.

This is kind of my take on it, all the other movies were trash. We love them for it but theres really nothing there. It just takes a basic plot. The more I think about it the more Id like to see it done.. at this point what harm can it do really?

Bad idea for two reasons. First, the reason a followup to the new FT13 hasn't happened sooner is you have two studios vying for the profits. As they split the opening weekend gross, it's likely that neither found the income worth a followup. Unless another production company is willing to step up and try it out. Which leads into point two...
If you go out in the woods and meet up with Jason, you're dead.
Except for the Final Girl. And how often will she be able to capture each and every kill on film, then run away? Unless the filmmakers are going to show only the aftermath of Jason's rampage, you have to assume everyone in the area has a camera and someone edited it all together. Jason isn't the Blair Witch and certain expectations are build into the franchise. A found footage scenario just won't work.
My feeling is, unless someone is willing to try the "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash" storyline, let the franchise rest in peace.

The key, I think, is to either embrace the schlocky aspect of the original, and go the Piranha 3D route, or to try different things and break up the formula, which means ditching the final girl once in a while. For the first person project, I would simply call it "Hunting Jason" and make that the movie. Easy thing to do would be a Blair Witch approach, but I could also see them using adults in an "America's Most Wanted" type program.

The original remake actually had some good ideas, good exploitation throwback elements, and some good kills, but the issue obviously was the stock characters, the screenplay, and of course the removal of how the original series all started ... no Jason, just Mrs. Voorhees ... and that was what made the first original great. But, if they could get a good screenplay, remove the stock idiot characters, and keep the '70's drive-in exploitation in it, they could have a decent part 2 in the new reboot. But I may be giving them too much credit that they'll be able to do so ...
