You've got questions, we've got answers. We finally return to one of our favorite subjects, the Q & A. It doesn't get much more casual than this as we have a relaxed session of general genre talk. Questions from most desired remake to our stance on off-shore oil drilling are fielded all thanks to listeners of the show. So nothing too heavy this week but it was nice to chat about favorite films, scenes, kills and horror memories for an hour. Things stay loose as we chat about overused horror cliches ( link to the article we're referring to), recent watches including Clash of the Titans and The White Ribbon, as well as other random bits. The Italian film festival (which seems to be evolving into the Mario Bava festival) continues with Black Sabbath (1963). So this must be what people are talking about when they praise Bava! Highly recommended. Schlock corner brings us home focusing on the single most burdensome modern cliche: the cell phone( Link). We have a voicemail line! Drop us a line at (206) 337-5324, we'd love to hear from you. Being a part of the show has never been easier. We always welcome your comments: horroretc@gmail.com

I dreamt about the movie "Black Sabbath" last night and coincidentally, I find out that the latest horroretc episode is about that movie.

Ted, I think Philip Seymour Hoffman could be cast in place of George C. Scott in the Changeling.
Also, Fred Dekker (creator/director of the original) is involved in the Monster Squad remake. I'm not sure in what capacity, but his hand will be stirring the pot. Could be the remake you're looking for.

Loved the show guys. Tony, shame on you for NOT seeing TCM. Got to say i love Black Sabbath. The look on that dead woman's face terrified me when i first saw it as a kid. The way the camera zooms in and she's just sitting up grinning that evil death grin. Man,that gave me nightmares for weeks.

That was great fun, even with the absence of my fantastic submitted question.
I think I'll answer the first question you were asked too - what film would you like to see remade? For me it would be 'Demons'. I don't know why it hasn't even been rumoured, it seems tailor-made that one.

That was great fun, even with the absence of my fantastic submitted question. Serendipity. Was just going through some Italian horror emails (from the dusty archives and discovered your question hidden at the end of one. I do apologize for failing to note it down but its already in the notes for the next show. And Doug should be around to give his response too.

Oh! Thank you very much. I was only joking, I didn't think you'd have space to read them all out really. I shall look forward to that.

In hopes that this is appropriately placed (I think this is the episode where other podcasts were discussed), I wanted to let Ted know that the ReelHorror podcast is back. Their return show is at Itunes.

Their return show is at Itunes. Interesting. Gave it a listen and have to say it was nice to hear Carbone contributing and somewhat interested in being there. I'll have to keep an eye on what transpires.

Remaking Dr. Phibes is a terrible idea. Vincent Price makes those movies great. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a huge Vincent Price fanboy.
Tony throwing out The Wizard of Oz as a possible candidate for a remake, on the face of it seemed like a dreadful idea too. That is until I gave that one a little more consideration. Consider what The Wizard of Oz would be like it the Oz portions of the film were shot using James Cameron's 3D technique. The transition for 2D to 3D would be for a contemporary audience nearly as stunning as the transition from black and white Kansas to full color Oz was to an audience in the late 1930's. Looking at the idea from that perspective, it makes sense.
I totally agree that Phantasm would be a good candidate for a remake, especially if they were going to film the whole series at once.

My stock answer for the "remake" question was always Clash of the Titans. Love Harryhausen but even his work isn't enough to save that movie from overpowering blandness.
Of course now it has been remade and opinions are mixed. Given how The Hulk worked out though I wouldn't be surprised if they tried again in the next few years.

I think The Wizard of Oz would be a prime candidate simply for the fact that there's a whole series of books there that (as far as I know) haven't been adapted - it's ripe for an ongoing film series to be made.

Enjoyed this podcast a lot.Very entertaining. I dont know if i missed something but is the Italian show not happening?.Is this going to be a regular spot this critique of a couple of italo movies in the final 3rd of the podcasts? Im not complaining either way its all good. We are getting the quality movies first i assume before you move onto the schlocky side of Italian horror i take it aka Nightmare City,Zombie Creeping Flesh,Contamination etc?
