Wow, I really liked the animated series they had on HBO, and the original movie was absolutely terrible--so this is some exciting news.

Wow, I really liked the animated series they had on HBO, and the original movie was absolutely terrible--so this is some exciting news. Ditto. The HBO show was really cool. The movie looked so bad I avoided it. I'm hoping that with all of todays effects they can really pull this one off. McFarlane's mention of keeping the story short and focused really adds to my hopes as well.

I'm not holding my breath. Todd's been trying to get this off the ground almost since the last film left theaters. Spawn as a character I don't think has much relevance left - he was a product of a time most comic fans are trying to forget. It's a shame because had McFarlane been able to focus on the character and provide quality writers to match the pencils, the book could have been so much more than what it was.
