Heya guys,
So what do you think of Syfy's original movies?
I think they make good background noise. They're like these terrible, soul-crushing ordeals with moments of horrified clarity. It's like a killer who wakes up from a fugue state, covered in blood. Take Leprechaun's Revenge, for example. After boring you for 80 minutes, Billy Zane reveals what happened to his wife, and somehow it's all worth it.
Seriously though, I appreciate they're keeping the Movie of the Week tradition alive. Yeah, Ice Spiders or whatever is no Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, but then again, neither was the remake.
Do you guys have any guilty favorites, or better-than-I-thought-it'd-be's?

I think most of them are pretty funny. MegaShark vs. Giant Octopus and Sharktopus are some favorites. I don't consider them "guilty pleasures" b/c they are fun to watch.

The films are rather uneven, at least the ones I've caught on DVD. Some are truly horrid, but others can be a lot of fun. It's the closest we'll ever get to the B-movies of old, and I say keep them coming.

I just watched one tonight with my friend's called "two-headed shark." Wow! I haven't laughed so hard in a long time...

Yesterday they had a bunch of their shark movies on. We had them playing at work. I work in retail and yesterday was uber slow and we didn't really have anything to do around the store, so we watched the movies. Mega shark vs Giant octopus was on yesterday and we never laughed so hard in all of our lives. I mean the part where the shark jumped out of the water and attacked the plane in the sky was the best. I swear it felt like I busted a gut I was laughing so hard. I seriously don't know what was more fun to me, watching the movie or listening to my co worker who doesn't like movies like that or horror make comments on it.

My friend taped one called "Jersey Shore Shark Attack" staring all the d-bags from the reality show Jersey Shore. Got to say I'm really looking forward to it lol.

I want to like the idea of the SyFy movies but, generally I don't enjoy them. There's a few random, funny moments in some of them but I akin them to the Science Fiction movies of the 50's and 60's. You know those ones that show up on those Mill Creek 50 movie bundles you see at Wal-Mart for like $10. They generally were awful with little to no plot and little to no budget. Some have comedic value if your drinking but for the most part, they are a major chore to get through.
The SyFy movies are the same. Some moments of humor if intoxicated or with friends but they have little to no value for me and if i actually make it all the way through one, they have no replay value.

So in the next month Syfy is airing a movie called "Piranhaconda" with Michael Madsen, and "Arachnoquake" with Edward Furlong....wow
Looking forward to both of them.
