This is out on dvd now, has anybody seen it? I watched it tonight and it's pretty fucked up...but it's probably my favorite of the year so far.
Most of the people I heard talk about it found it really depressing, but I didn't find it that way. I don't know what that says about me lol

Aoppreciate it but didn't like it. Couldn't root for one person in it, and there really wasn't any surprises after the "outside" scene. Just watching people degenerate in predictable ways. In the end I didn't care if anyone lived or died.

I think that is the point director is making. Who cares if there is an apocalypse? We all deserve it and nobody or nothing would miss us.

I don't mind downbeat or nihilistic tales, but the story still needs to engage the viewer. That doesn't happen if you just put a bunch of ass holes on screen.

I guess I felt completely engaged regardless I'm usually the first one to complain when I hate all the characters, but this one really worked for me, for whatever reason. I could see how you could hate all the characters, they are all pretty terrible. IMO the main girl is a stand-in for the audience so she doesn't really do anything terrible (until the very end), so that is how I felt engaged despite all the unlikable characters.
