Went back to the Archives the other night and watched The Invisible Invaders. This is a cheezy B&W movie from 1959 starring John Agar and John Carradine. Basically Maj. Bruce Jay (John Agar) and his dedicated team of research scientists have the rather distasteful job of defeating invasion by a horde of invisible creatures from outer space capable of reanimating human corpses. The alien army of rotting walking dead begins methodically overtaking cities throughout the country. I remember seeing this as a child and when I watched Night of the Living Dead, I couldn't help but see the similarities to the reanimated undead in this creaky old gem. What do you think?

I wouldn't be surprised at all. Every time I think something is "original" I end up finding something similar that came before it. I heard their was also a Hammer zombie movie that might have influenced it also. Can't remember the name though.
Only the most avante garde horror movies seem really original.
I was watching some movie from the library last night called "Barbarella Queen of the Galaxy" and the had a virtual sex simulation thing that Judge Dredd clearly ripped off. I found that pretty humorous...

It was enjoyable but mostly b/c it was so ridiculous. Apparently my dad took mom to see it when they were dating and mom absolutely hated it lol. I'll keep an eye out for Flesh Gordon though

I remember hearing about a strange movie that was a lot like Night of the Living Dead.
It was about a team of -- I think -- Russian scientists. Some kind of gas is released, which either causes the dead to reanimate, or people become hypnotized and attack. The scientists have to barricade themselves indoors.
Is that the movie you're talking about, or am I thinking of something else?

There was a movie called Fiend without a Face about invisible brain monsters and it featured an assault on several scientist and military officers inside a home. It would have been in theaters when Romero was young. Check it out if you enjoy stop-motion animation. The brain creatures are really well done.
