It's time once again to reconvene the Book Club to discuss a whole new roster of recommendations. The annual Book Club episode is a favorite of ours and thanks to all those who shared a bumper crop of contributions we have loads of suggestions to help fill up those summer reading lists. We will be joined by a special guest to talk genre literature next week allowing us to do our first two part Book Club episode. After sharing a few or our own recent reads (more on that next week), and providing an update to the e-reader discussion following Ted's recent conversion, we get to the listener picks. There is a wide variety of titles and authors to share including Jeff Strand, Stephen Irwin, Colton Whitehead, William Hope Hodgson, John W Campbell and Jonathan Mayberry. We not only have authors but novels, short story collections, genre compilations, even cartoonists and graphic novels. It's a bumper crop of material to seek out and enjoy on the beach, on the bus or in your favourite dark lamp lit reading corner. Many thanks to everyone who have helped us to deliver another instalment of the Book Club series and remember, contributions are welcome year round as we love to keep this tradition going. As always we welcome your comments: horroretc@gmail.com Voicemail (206) 337-5324

Great episode guys. Really enjoyed it. Can't wait for next week's show. I was considering submitting Zone One as my pick for this Book Club. After hearing John in Ireland's review of it, I was glad I didn't. He covered every point I would have far more thoughtfully and articulately than I could have. As you're reading Zone One, you can never completely escape the feeling that Colson Whitehead is 'Writing'. This makes it very difficult to get into the story for more than a few sentences at a stretch. It's a shame, and mars an otherwise great zombie novel.

Really good show guys, my favourite book club so far.
Alot of love for the kindle, i very nearly bought one last month- but having experienced a duff battery on another media device recently i've held off because when i read i tend to do it in a great chunk and there's no way i want to further the extent to which i have to self ration consumption of media i already own because of an inanimate fuel cell, or not having had the time to charge a device. Don't know what the real battery life of the kindle as opposed to the advertised one is, but this would play a very large part in my decision to buy one or not.

Sidach I got my wife a Sony E reader for Christmas, she reads while on her break at work so it's about an hour a day and I have to tell you I reckon she has only had to charge it three times since she got it, the Salesman told me that even with heavy use (hours a day) the battery power lasts three weeks but if you play music at the same time on the device (which you can) that drastically cuts down it's battery life

John I always come away feeling like I gained something when I hear your comments. Phone bill be damned, keep 'em comin' man! For you, or anyone else, interested in reading another 'literary' zombie novel, check out 'The Reapers Are the Angels' by Alden Bell. Truly the 'if Cormac McCarthy wrote a zombie novel' book.
