'Hellraiser fans... such fertile ground for planting the seeds of torment.' One more trip to the Hellraiser well. The retrospective just wouldn't be complete without getting Anthony's comments on the latter half of the franchise. Doug also joins in to share his perspective of the series as a whole. We had the best of intentions but the complaining may have gotten fired up once again in the course of things. It's only because of the great things we know the Hellraiser universe can deliver that we became so disappointed in the direction things went. So please join us for a shortened installment to wrap up the Hellraiser series as we take this week to recover from Fan Expo 2012 - lots to cover on that subject very soon. Before signing out we do manage to discuss a recent (and highly improbable) graphic novel discovery: Batman and Superman vs. Aliens and Predator !? As always we welcome your comments: horroretc@gmail.com Voicemail (206) 337-5324

Oh yea, there's the rant fix...
Seriously, I love listening to your ranting, Ted. It's nice to hear someone with passion for the genre spew out such criticism over obvious callous treatment of the genre by studios and filmmakers only interested in the bottom line. Or pompous filmmakers thinking they are elevating the genre, when they are only inflating their own ego (one guess who that's directed at). And the fact that you're not being nasty or mean, but truthful in your opinion, makes your observations and criticisms even more entertaining.
I would love to hear a podcast comprised of your ranting, as long as it includes your take on The Happening. Classic stuff, full of rage tampered with insight and careful consideration. Sure, it might have been alcohol induced (I think you had a few beers before your rant on The Happening), but who cares? You were still professional, rather than taking the mean spirited approach some other podcasts use. You come across as insightful and able to express your disgust with a critical eye. It's one of the things that keeps me listening to the podcast; when you don't like something, you can express your criticism in a manner befitting a true critic, rather than shouting out some simple line like, "It sucked balls!"
Mind you, I wouldn't mind anyone using that expression, as long as you continue to back up your claim. Keep up the great work, and I'll keep listening.
And, before I forget, bravo to everyone on the cast. Tony, Doug and all the guests, you do a wonderful job. It's a pleasure listening to the podcast every week. Keep them coming, I'm hooked!

I'm a HUGE hellraiser fan and really enjoyed this series of Horror Etc episodes. And that was an awesome rant, Ted. Hopefully someone will make a faithfully good Hellraiser movie one day. Sooner rather than later would be nice, too.

I was not a fan of Martyrs, but I still think Pascal Laugier would have been an interesting fit for a Hellraiser reboot. Even if I didn't like the film I'm sure I would have found it interesting or even thought-provoking. Too bad the franchise owners are looking to go another way with it.
