Anybody make it to Comic Con this year? Sadly I missed Guillermo Del Toro on Friday but the Saturday panels were great..
James Wan was there with his new ghost movie The Conjuring starring Patrick Wilson, and Vera Farmigia as pramormal investigators helping Lili Taylor's family. Takes place in 70's and seems to be "based a true story". The clip they showed had a jump scare that really got me at then end.
Barry Levinson was there with a sort of found footage film called The Bay, about some creepy parasites in the water at Chesapeake Bay, that infect a whole town. The interesting thing about this one is that it's 8 different stories being filmed in different ways, security cameras, Iphones, Skype, regular cameras, there's a reporter so more high tech cameras. He mentioned starting with 100 different cameras and whittling it down to 21.
Julianne Moore and Chloe Moretz were there to talk about Carrie. The director was there too but I can't remember her name. They showed a teaser which was really just a long zoom down a wrecked and fiery street ending with a blood covered Carrie. They gave out a phone number you can call and depending what time you all you'll get a different message, 207-404-2604.
Bruce Campbell was there with the Evil Dead remake trailer. There were other people there, girl Ash, but seriously all I saw was Bruce Campbell. He was so funny my cheeks were hurting from laughing so much. They showed the trailer which does not look funny at all. Saw the cellar dweller, which kinda looked liked Regan from the Exorcist to me, what looks like the tree rape, a chainsaw in there somewhere and, this is a weird one, girl ash cutting off her hand? Anyway it looked good and Bruce Campbell told me to see it so it has my money.
The Walking Dead panel was awesome as usual. Everyone was there Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Michael Rooker, David Morrisey and Danai Gurira and the kid who plays Carl. I can't remember his name, but damn that kid always impresses me, he is way too professional for someone his age. They showed the first few minutes of tonight's episode, which i wont spoil, but it looks good. I'm hoping that what they showed means the fate of a certain character is coming this season.
There was a 10th anniversary Firefly panel. Jewel Staite was there and Sean Maher. They did that gag where, Nathan Fillion couldn't be there but was "calling in from LA" after a few minutes the call cuts off and he walks on stage and I'm telling you that room exploded. It was so great seeing them up on stage reminiscing about Firefly.
