Buckle up for a bit of globetrotting as we finish getting caught up on our watch lists comprised of a variety of international fare. Our intentions were good - the plan was to narrow our focus and take on a specific theme of films... the result was a surprisingly eclectic mix of stuff. Ahh, the best laid plans... We do have an interesting selection of foreign films though including a slow burning, tension packed stalker with a bit of a mind bend The Asylum aka The Incident (France/Belgium), sharks in a supermarket in Bait (Australia), a fresh zom-com Juan of the Dead (Cuba), and an alien invasion horror comedy Grabbers (Ireland). We make sure to pay respect to Canada's very own David Cronenberg with his new release Cosmopolis, and bring it home with a smattering of North American fare including: Shuttle (underseen 2008 thriller), Apollo 18 (kicking off the found footage debate once more), a Looper tease (hint - its a recommendation), Megan is Missing (2011), Compliance (2012), and a whole lot more. So we are pretty much caught up now on the miscellaneous material, just in time for some fun topics planned in the next few weeks. Special thanks to John in Ireland for the voicemail comments on Grabbers. Once again, he does a better job of summing it up than we could. Please drop us a line to say hello and be part of our 5 year anniversary special coming this Halloween. As always we welcome your comments: horroretc@gmail.com Voicemail (206) 337-5324

The Isle of Aran is indeed a real place, and so small that it can be easily viewed in its entirety from the summit of a reasonably sized hill. Kinda hard to envision there being enough room to wage a LARP battle, let alone an alien invasion.

Good episode fellas - must give Shuttle a view. Can't believe Ted & Doug haven't seen Dredd 3d yet - I implore you to see it - think you guys will dig the John Carpenter vibe you'll get from watching it.

Great episode! I'm looking forward to watching a lot of the films you've mentioned, as I haven't seen any of them. Which is odd. I usually have seen at least one or two of the movies you guys discuss. I'm especially looking forward to Bait, Grabbers, and Juan of the Dead.

Ted ...there is no need to apoligise for the delay as you called it on the podcast...i'm just glad you guys thought my review was good enough to use ..and thanks for the kind words in this episodes write up. Ilnino , hammerhead is probably referring to the Arann islands which are just off the coast of County Galway, the problem with Grabbers is the island is called Erin Isle which literally translates as "Ireland Island"..not the most subtle of jokes.

John, that was a great review of Grabbers. ;D Funny thing about your review for me, though, was that all the things you disliked about the movie made me want to watch it even more.

Im right and I'll hear nothing else to say otherwise Anyway, I was glad to hear your negative review to be honest Id heard a few podcasts this week telling me how great a film it was and Im glad I can now go in with a little less hype. Though Im still hopeful. I like a bit of Johnone on the podcast.. you are become a Horroretc staple.. so ya may get calling again sharpish mate....

Sometimes Doug will soon become Often Doug. I have no problem with that.
