Hello all. We host a monthly indie horror movie night in Boston at the Somerville Theater. It being Halloween season we've booked a pretty swell event called 'Shudderfest" on Friday the 26th and Saturday the 27th
We have 3 movies on the 26th: We're cohosting "I Am A Ghost" with the Boston Asian Film Fest at 7pm. This is a fantastic, character driven ghost story with nods to Kubrick that features a spirit doomed to relive her last day on earth, trapped in her former home. We're screening this in the minicinema.
At 10pm we move to the big honkin' screening room for a double feature. First up is AMERICAN MARY, the 2nd feature by Jen & Sylvia Soska (the lovely ladies behind Dead Hooker in a Trunk). Katherine Isabelle stars as a broke med student sucked into the world of underground body modification surgery who starts to grow mad and violent as her world collapses. Anyone who is a fan of films like Dead Ringers, early Cronenberg and early Argento should check this out.
At midnight we're hosting the Boston premiere of Richard Griffin's (The Disco Exorcist) MURDER UNIVERSITY. Fans of early 80's slashers will love this as it manages to spoof the genre while still providing plenty of gore, nudity and stalk and slash kills along with a freaking killer sound track.
We'll be screening a short film before each feature (Stella Buio at 10pm, Vicki-a spoof of Christine-at midnight)
Saturday night at 7pm we move back to the microcinema for an hour long block of shorts followed by Lindsay Dennisbrug's Video Diary of a Lost Girl. This one's tough to describe. Imagine if David Lynch made a movie about the story of Lilith but did it using technology for Super Nintendo and you have a rough idea.
Anyhow, we hope some folks can turn out. I've attached the flyer with more details and the trailers can be found on our site.
Thanks
Mike
