Welcome to an unscheduled From The Hip episode. We decided to interupt our look at horror comics to bring everyone up to speed on recent events that may be of importance to the horroretc community. Not to worry, the drama is minimal and this impromptu get together served to give us the chance to get caught up on some recent watches. In some treks to the theatre we have caught the remake of The Crazies (and cover off the '73 original as well), the latest collaboration of Scorsese/Dicaprio Shutter Island (spoiler talk is from 37:50 to 44:44), The 87' original and '09 remake of The Stepfather, an intriguing entry from a Horroretc favorite Christopher Smith called Triangle (2009), The Asylum's take on Sherlock Holmes and more. The story of Ted's complete computer failure, our take on Burton's upcoming Alice in Wonderland, the subtle alterations to the Nightmare on Elm Street trailer and much more round things out (plus some fun intermission music). Please don't hesitate to send in your entries to our ongoing contests (special thanks to our friends at Rebellion Press and 2000AD). Three graphic novel packages and a special Doctor Who DVD release are up for grabs. Did someone say Shatner? Shatner 'sings' WWE themes. We always welcome your comments: horroretc@gmail.com

Horroretc cursed me! Ted started talking about his computer getting a virus and then mine went and got one too! started off with missing .dll files and then suddenly it was Pop up central, all telling me I was in danger - then it installed some god awful thing called dr guard without my say so and kept wanting to charge me for it. Just to say managed to google it between pop ups and downloaded something called scandoctor which seems to have stopped it... But the program is still hanging around.

Didin`t you see Pontypool Mundays.
In Canada Viruses (even Computer viruses) are spread through spoken language.
Random sidenote: I think I have a virus on my backup computer, which isn`t even connected to the internet. How the hell can that happen.

Good Christ, guys! Is the cow ok? Glad to hear you both liked Shutter Island. Though I'd not rank it anywhere near Scosese's top 10, I know it's right in Tony's sweet spot. And Ted, if you are going to mock Tony for not seeing the film, please don't call it "Goodfellows", kay? Crazies sounds OK. I'm not a fan of the original - the more overtly political Romero gets, the less I like his work (not unique to Romero - I just dislike the sledgehammer approach, and its one reason I am glad Avatar missed best pic this year). As for the passing of the old forum, it is understandable even if it is sad. Perhaps its naive, but it'd nice if Mudoogal and HEtc could bury the hatchet one day.

Not seeing Pulp Fiction was bad enough, but Goodfellas!??!
What exactly happened to you in the 90's, Tony??...

Whoa!!! you post the spoiler warning for Shutter Island right in the episode description, then a Lost discussion sneaks up on the listener out of nowhere.... Bastards!!!
Also, I'll be bringing a copy of Goodfellas to Anthony tomorrow.... this is getting ridiculous.

It's not the real deal unfortunately but it's tasty just the same. Our Empirial magistrates have dictated the pure stuff is far too strong for us to manage responsibly. Cooking up a scheme to get a bottle here (what is your best recommendation for a label?)

Lemercier is by far and away my favorite, its unique that its a clearish Absinthe that when it looshes (mixed with the sugar and water) turns a opaque white. Le Fee is also a good choice, the most popular of all the Absinthe's and fairly easy to find, heh even has its own wiki page : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_F%C3%A9e_Absinthe

thank you for discussing Triangle. I've been waiting for a podcast to talk about that movie. i think its highly under rated and it introduced me to Timecrimes and Primer. two other really good time travel movies.

I didn't enjoy Triangle as much as you guys, because I thought it was pretty much a remake of Timecrimes. A double bill of those two would be disastrous for whichever one went second.
I still think it is a well made movie though! This weeks Lost was INCREDIBLE! Finally going somewhere. (I can't believe Hurley died).
