Let's get caught up on recent watches shall we? When things get too eclectic and a pattern cannot be discerned we call that a 'what we've been watching` episode and we certainly have some picks from across the spectrum this time. Things kick off with a rundown of Compliance (2012) that went a lot longer than intended but that may speak to the impact of the true event story. We progress into an odd slow-paced cult infiltration film The Sound of my Voice (2011) that became more than its pitchline, and Barricade (2012) - a WWE films feature (take that for what it`s worth). The train keeps rolling with The Bay (2012), a faux documentary ecological horror film from a true non-horror director, a very underappreciated indie film Exit Humanity (2011) that really exceeded its limitations, an agoraphobia hoodie horror called Citadel (2012) from the Uk, a long requested classic Romero film Martin (1976), some rewatches and odds and ends. After a disquieting schlock corner quickly looking at a true grindhouse vetsploitation film Forced Entry (1974), we progress to chatting about season 3 of The Walking Dead... thus far. The comments were purposefully frozen from the end of episode 5 to share our thoughts and predictions (heavy spoilers here so be warned). Spoiler discussion for Compliance runs from 18:57 to 26:42 As always we welcome your comments: horroretc@gmail.com Voicemail (206) 337-5324

Martin is my favorite Romero movie. I really felt for the character and the ending shocked me and stuck with me . I can't wait to here it discussed on here.

Hey Ted and Doug, I'm not posting this to nitpick in anyway whatsoever, but a year or two ago they made a documentary about the woman who sued for the coffee burns and was awarded 2 million dollars or whatever.
I'm pointing this out b/c when I heard the story of what actually happened it made me so angry and I think everyone who was lied to about this story should know what happened. The way this story was spun in the news was pretty disgusting, and we were basically all lied to.
Apparently in order to store coffee beans past their expiration date, McDonalds had been boiling coffee at a temperature that was too hot for the styrofoam, and it was so hot that it would actually melt the cups. When this lady sat it between her legs in a parked car she received burns that were so bad that she required skin grafts. Over 700 people had reported burns to McDonalds and they had done nothing to fix the problem.
I heard about this on Democracy Now! which is the best news program I've ever found (100 x's better than Cnn) and if anyone is interested in that they have a podcast at democracynow.org

So . . . did you like or at least admire "Compliance" on the whole, Ted?
In case you didn't read/hear about it, it did make quite a stir/controversy last year when it debuted at Sundance and has needless to say sparked lots of discussion and in-depth write ups in the past year. A very divisive movie, to say the least.

A very divisive movie, to say the least. I don't remember specifics of the discussion Doug and I had about it back then but I hope it was pretty clear that I thought it was a very well made and engaging movie. The filmmakers copped out on one particular aspect true but I recall talking about two specific long take shots that were fantastic as demonstrations of just how well crafted it was. I'm surprised this far removed that my comments would have indicated I didn't like it. Oh yes, I just remembered complaining about showing the caller - yes, I still think that was an error.

Apologies, I was just catching up with past episodes and I just wanted to make sure I understood where you were on the movie. Thanks for clearing that up!
