The Italian horror film festival gets a kick in the ass this week as we explore a range of Mario Bava works from the time period of 1959 - 1966, not to mention a few curveballs along the way. Bava is lauded as having a true cinematic eye and credited as a master of mood accomplished through the use of lighting, colour, music and camera movement ...turns out that praise is pretty well earned. Things kick off with Kill Baby Kill (1966) followed by Caltiki, The Immortal Monster (1959), Blood and Black Lace (1964), Torso (1973), Planet of the Vampires (1965) and Whip and the Body / What? (1963). To bring it all home we dispense some differing opinions of Wes Craven's Cursed (2005) before admitting how much fun the A-Team was. Schlock corner features a terrific trailer for a new videogame The Force Unleashed 2 ( link) which led the way to some general comments on the state of the Star Wars franchise. Before opening up the floor to voicemails we debate the use of...voicemails. With respect to the varying opinions on the use of audio feedback we propose a balanced approach and then get into some great comments sent in to the show this week, demonstrating the strength of having listener contributions. Oh, and we talk about the new Predators and Inception trailers too. We always welcome your comments: horroretc@gmail.com / voicemail (206) 337-5324

Great show again guys. I don't have a problem with any thing u guys say because the thing is this is a podcast of discussion and as a discussion show, we need to both agree and disagree. but in the civil manner. LOL. I m very excited about predators and inception. IO do have to say that I didn't hate the prequel trilogy of star wars and i did like how lucas used some themes in the second two prequel films. and when yoda fought the syth in attack of the clones, PRICELESS> Yoda is the man. But more importantly u guys rule. now do you guys read the privater messages sent 2 u? i have a favor but b4 i ask i want to ask u guys first privately.

I have a confession to make..despite my love of Italian horror ive never seen a Mario Bava horror flick. Now ive seen movies by Lamberto...ive even MET Lamberto but ive never seen anything by his poppa other than Danger Diabolik and its high time i did.I have been holding off buying the Bava box set in my local HMV for years and after i listen to this episode im sure ill be making that purchase soon. UPDATE -*i just realised i own TORSO which is a great slasher with hot HOT actresses aplenty* Im enjoying the Italo odyssey so far and i do hope you one day get round to NIGHTMARE CITY and ZOMBIE CREEPING FLESH..two schlocky faves of mine. Im really glad that Ted is digging the GOBLIN soundtracks too Good stuff. Star Wars? Ive started a rare behind the scenes and promo image group on facebook of the OT and may put my PT stuff on too. The link isnt pasting here but its called - THE RARE STAR WARS IMAGE ARCHIVE www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=130308980317074&ref=search

Mmm... maybe "take Ted to task" was the wrong set of words for me to use, but I do plan on putting together a little piece to explain my POV. On re-listening to the show, I really do think that my issues with Ted's take on the paranormal boils down to three broad points (well - two points and one segment from the show), rather than a broad-based desire to dress him down for being a skeptic. Believe me, there's a lot of stuff out there you have to be skeptical about, and I know it. I just take some offense to the sense that I still get from it that Ted seems to be falling into a few of his own logical fallacies through his discussions.
At any rate - you guys have just expanded my list of films to try and hunt up at Famous Monsters yet again. Seem to do this to me every week lately! :-P

Great show guys, love Bava and very keen to check out more of his work. Won't go into my thoughts on Lucas' horrible mistake off ep 1,2 and 3 or I will suffer Nerd Rage. On the Force Unleashed 2 trailer, there is a new Star Wars MMO coming out next year some time and they have 2 cinematic trailers you may enjoy. Now I need another MMO like I need a hole in the head but anyhoo: www.swtor.com/media/trailers/deceived-cinematic-trailerwww.swtor.com/media/trailers/hope-cinematic-trailerJust goes to show how far he got it wrong Also I like your laid back summer episodes even though its winter over here
