Our year end tradition of discussing the most recent season of Dexter returns. Season 7 had its highs and lows, offered some very interesting character analysis and left things off on a nicely dark note. We dig into the various story threads, villains and the themes they represent, the introduction of Dexter's latest killer love interest and the inevitable emotional collapse of Deborah. There were some disappointing elements, most notably the premature departure of a certain Ukrainian mobster, but the two season story arc that has been built by the writers makes it difficult to judge season 7 on its own. Hopefully those listeners who are up to speed enjoy our usual recap, reflections and predictions. For those who are not on the Dexter bandwagon however we do have a second segment of the show chatting about some random topics including The Hobbit (and of the course 48 FPS), Dark Shadows, and a depressing documentary The Bridge to bring down your holiday spirit. Segment #2 begins at 56:45. As always we welcome your comments: horroretc@gmail.com Voicemail (206) 337-5324

I'll be foregoing my normal boycott of this episode, as I wait for the season to come out on DVD, after the horrid turn last season took. I love the show, but I felt the previous season jumped the shark with the closing few minutes and don't really care whether I'm surprised or not by this season.
Let me know if I should hold out, or if listening to this episode next week won't make a difference.

Personally, I'd wait until I've seen the shows.

Thanks again for another great Dexter episode! Always good to hear your guys' take.
Here's my one word description of the season...FILLER.
So much laid that will lead to nowhere, but as usual, gripping and good to watch. After all, filling can be damn tasty.
As for The Bridge, it lingers for a few days deep on you, but time helps. I saw the film a couple of years ago, really thinking it had erased the awesomeness and almost romantic vibe of old time construction done right that the Golden Gate puts out when you are there. Nah, crossed over about 2 months ago, and the depicted suicides were a fleeting thought at best. She still stands as beautiful as ever.
