The silence is broken. The brief hiatus has ended with a casual and general collection of topics with contributions from listeners via voicemail feedback. The listener content ended up being about 20 percent of the running time, allowing us to chat about a nicely eclectic collection of subjects including Grindhouse notalgia, the infamous Leprechaun series, horror conventions, Firefly, Tarantino, the vile and disgusting movies we keep coming back to, modern action film remakes, daredevils, and a whole lot more. Before things really get rolling, we break the ice with comments on a few recent watches including an odd semi-slasher Redd Inc. featuring a return to practical gore effects, a 70's Jaws clone Tintorena: Killer Shark, and belatedly Zero Dark Thirty. Thanks to everyone who calls in to the voicemail line and adds their voice to the horroretc community, we love to riff on the subjects that you bring to the table. As always we welcome your comments: horroretc@gmail.com Voicemail (206) 337-5324

Doug: To be fair, Joss Whedon is more than capable of writing/directing/making something that is far from lighthearted. TV episodes such as "The Body" ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") and "A Hole in the World" ("Angel") are proof positive that he can craft and deliver material that is serious, gritty and all around gut-punching.
