Remember the good old days? When we all were staring down the barrel of a million megatons? When a flock of birds across a radar screen could trigger the end of us all? When we watched the news wondering if the next story would be the preamble to our demise? When we thought the Cold War would last forever, unless we decided to cut it short in a hot, world ending flash?
Actually you probably don't if you're younger than about 28. But that was a pretty frickin scary time to be a kid, let me tell you.
I'd be willing to bet that more people are afraid of a zombie apocalypse than a nuclear apocalypse these days, which is weird because a nuclear apocalypse is a) possible and b) worse. What we need is some good, scary nuke films to give those millennials a taste of what we fogeys went through.
The Cold War has given us no shortage of expressions of this terror, from Doctor Strangelove to DefCon 4. Terrifying docudramas like "Threads" and "The Day After" or documentaries like "A Guide to Armageddon" or "After the Apocalypse" would keep any right-thinking horror fan up at night. We should try it.

I remember hearing about that stuff when I was a kid and I can't say it meant much to me.
I actually did hear recently though that nuclear war between India and Pakistan could end all life on the planet by destroying our atmosphere.
Is that scary though? At this point I'm so jaded toward external threats that I'm not sure it really means anything to me.
