Max Brooks did make a point that when Brad Pitt shows up at your door and says he wants to make your book into a movie, you don't say no. It's a shame he didn't have the power, or the confidence, to hold onto the rights. Cinema is not the right medium for this story; television is. Yes I know The Walking Dead etc etc but this isn't The Walking Dead; it's an entirely different form of story. It isn't personal; it isn't narrative-driven. It's about politics, about grand movements across the globe. Perhaps even a video game would have worked better. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fRQ-RCWhiYHe really goes to town on the filmmakers here. Politely, but still... I love how he knows more about the filmmaking process than the filmmakers themselves, and is able to predict the problems they don't seem to think they'll have.
