I was watching the newest episode of hannibal and one of the most shocking commercials was the iconic image of Rosemary's baby carriage before a window and the sound of a baby crying with the same title popping up.
"ROSEMARY'S BABY IS GOING TO BECOME A TV SHOW? WHAAAAAT?" was what my reaction was when that small commercial was over. How can this be? I had been curious about how the classic movie would be like if it was rebooted a couple of times but I never thought in a million years that one of the most cult classic horror movies would be made into a tv series.
What do you guys think?
(And don't worry, I'll be keeping my eyes open for the date of when it is airing on.)

Pinning a backstory onto a popular movie and stretching it out into a series is popular right now. Just look at Hannibal, Bonnie & Clyde, Dusk Till Dawn and Bates Motel. In Rosemary's Baby the whole coven thing could be expanded to explain more about their history, what else they’ve done, etc. If they went down that route it might be have been fun but from what I understand it’s just a 4 hour miniseries, so it might turn out to be nothing more than a padded out remake…

I just hope that they don't ruin the story of the classic and not make it into a twisted buffy or angel sort of show just involving a devils baby.

That's disappointing to hear it's a two part mini series. Having it run as a 13 part series during the summer would have been a better way to adapt the novel. vamphunterdlover, no one can ruin the original novel. Chan-wook Park's version of Old Boy doesn't ruin the original comic.

I'm just worried that they will get off the main plot like the last season of True Blood has and the direction it is ending with the vampire-zombie like Apocalypse plot they have for the next season....let's just say if I want to watch a show with Zombies, I would watch the walking dead. You know what I mean?

I think it's really hard to compete with anything Polanski has done. He's an excellent director, even if I don't approve of decisions in his personal life. This series can be wonderful, I think, if they don't try to compete with the film. But just adapt the story properly and aim to make something wonderful on it's own.
