Thankfully, I know you're just being sarcastic..... RIGHT? Had to go with The Exorcist on this one. As much as I love Jaws, I just don't think of it as a horror film. Scary as hell at times? Yes. But the pacing and directorial focus makes it more of an adventure film to me, like The Naked Jungle. Besides, The Exorcist has so many layers. You can view it as a rebut of the idea that God is dead (a popular notion back then, as science had the answer for everything) or an exploration of parental fears of their children becoming heathens (otherwise known as hippies) or just one of the scariest films every made. Anyway you slice it, it's number one in my opinion.
