I am a fan of the Dracula films of all kinds. But as listening to the Horror Ect Podcast for the past years I have been curious about something.
What do you expect or desire when you go to see a Dracula movie?
I know that when I see a Dracula film, I have this little list of expectations that I go by:
1.) If the film is a reboot or retelling of the Stoker novel, show me something that I haven't seen done before in previous films. (There is only so much that you can do with a well known story that is considered a classic before running into a brick wall or its audience becoming bored of seeing this story being told and think it is getting old.)
2.) Good actors/actresses that can bring a good or attempt a good performance giving what script of the film they are given, while making their roles their own.
3.) If the Dracula film isn't a retelling of the Stoker novel, try to keep at least one trait of the Dracula character that I can recognize (besides him being a vampire) and say 'That is Dracula, no doubt about it.'
4.) Be entertaining and don't commit the one crime a movie, especially a Dracula movie, commit......MAKE ME BORED AND WANT TO GET UP AND WALK OUT OF THE THEATER or CHANGE THE CHANNEL (If the movie is on a movie channel or on Demand on cable.)
Do any of my expectations or desires meet with what you expect when you see a Dracula film?
