The perfect sequel for the Cabin in the Woods would be to show what happened with the Japanese team.. I'd like to see how those kids defeated the ghost.. And their reaction to the American failure would be amusing as well. Then you could branch out to the other teams in even more sequels...

As much as I'd like to know more about the different creatures, I wouldn't want this film sullied by a sequel. While it could be good, more likely, it would be quickly produced drivel that is thrown out there simply to grab more money. I would only buy in if Whedon was involved.

Has anyone else heard the rumor "Cabin In the Woods" was suppose to be a prequel to "Evil Dead". I'm not really buying it but someone one tried to sell me on that the other day.
Can anyone help me confirm or deny?

I'm sure there could be a perfectly good sequel to this movie, it just depends on the talent of the people involved.

I wish I could help, Darkarts404, but I've not heard that rumor.

Can anyone help me confirm or deny? Deny. The genesis of the film was that Whedon and Drew wanted to work together, and Joss came up with the basic idea and title. At no point have they ever claimed to aspire to making an Evil Dead film (though I believe they admit to being fans and inspired by them).

Im gona say the ending doesnt bode well for it being a prequell Anyway, have vague memory of a Drew Goddard interview which was basically him talking about them both being horror geeks and writing something fun and letting their imaginations run wild. All the things they'd love to see in a movie..

Would prefer for this to remain a standalone movie, loved it as it is. I would like to see a second movie from the two of them

When I say a second movie I meant an unrelated second movie :-)

My Japanese is rubbish. What does 'caboin' mean? Is that a type of spirit or just a name (like 'Samara')?

Caboin is not Japanese it is actually Korean slang for "lets make a spelling mistake and see who is so pedantic they need to mention it" :-P

I loved the first even with the ridiculous last 20 minutes or so but a sequel would taint the first. Side note: I wish they had of ended it when everyone was celebrating. It would have left it so ambiguous. The whole wrap up 20 minutes was unnecessary for me personally.

I thought the movie was ending when stuff was going on in the background on the screen while the focus was on the party in the room and absolutely loved the fact they were showing how unimportant a persons life is to them by not focusing on the action, I would have been really happy with that ending BUT I loved the last 20 minutes, I was not expecting it and I have to admit it is my favourite part of the movie.

Yeah the general consensus of people that I talked to that love this movie all say they loved the end. Maybe a second viewing might warm me up to the finale.
